Cardi B Makes Money Moves To The #1 Spot
Cardi B is the first female rap artist to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 19 years without a feature. This week, Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” moved up one position to take the number one spot, while Post Malone’s “Rockstar” featuring 21 Savage debuted at number two. The last female rapper to see this success without a feature was Lauryn Hill in 1998 with “Doowop (That Thing).”
This is the fifth time a female rapper has ever claimed the number one spot. Before Cardi B was Lauryn Hill, Lil Kim, Shawnna, and Iggy Azalea. Cardi B is also the first solo female to top the Hot 100 with a debut single since Meghan Trainor with “All About That Bass” in 2014.
