Common speaks with Vlad TV about “soft” rappers, which he recently went at with “Sweet” from his new album The Dreamer, The Believer.

Not too long ago, while asked about who he was referring to in “Sweet”, Common opened up and named Drake on Shade 45. So while watching this video, think of Drake.

But do know that I myself do not think of Drake as a “soft” rapper. I think of Drake as a rapper, who likes to put emotion into his music and sometimes comes off soft. Okay, well, in a way I do think Drake is a “soft” rapper. Hell, sometimes I even consider his music R&B.

But hey, there is absolutely nothing wrong with sharing emotion in music if that’s what makes an artist soft. Sharing emotion in music is what makes me enjoy music. Emotion in music is why I am a fan of Drake. Emotion in music is why I’m a fan of Eminem. Emotion in music is why I’m a fan of Kanye West. Emotion in music is why I’m a fan of J. Cole. Need I go on?

But in this video Common does not name drop Drake, so this video could just be placed here for archival purposes if this Common and Drake “beef” thing ever takes off.  But, it most likely won’t.  In related news, Common’s The Dreamer, The Believer is projected to sell 55-65k units in it’s first week out, actual numbers to be revealed soon.
