Diddy is teaming up with Oscar winning director Brian Grazer on a new King Of New York remake.

According to PageSix, Diddy will take on the lead role of the film. This new comes just days after the launch of his new RevoltTV network. The film, which will be produced with Grazer’s Imagine Entertainment company, will retell the story of  a former drug lord who returns from jail with a plan to crush his competition and give back to the community.

Grazer had this to say about the project:

“Sean [“Diddy” Combs] optioned the rights to remake King of New York for two years,” Grazer said. “The film is a cult classic, and it will be great to remake it. Our version won’t be exactly the same, but will have the same hardcore gangster feel. Sean wants to be in it. He was amazing in Monster’s Ball, and such strong characters sit perfectly with him.”

Production on the film could start as early as next year. Diddy has previously made acting appearances in the movies Get Him To The Greek, Carlito’s Way: Rise To Power, Monster’s Ball and A Raisin In The Sun.
