Tonight the first ever YouTube Music Awards took place in New York City and fans chose Eminem as their Artist Of The Year.
YouTube selected nominees based on data accumulated from view counts, video shares on social media, comments, subscribers and more. Winners were selected by fans through social media and on YouTube. To win an artist simply had to have more shares on special “YTMA” uploaded videos.
Eminem beat out Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Nicki Minaj, One Direction, PSY, Rihanna, and Taylor Swift for the biggest award of the night, “Artist Of The Year.”
After spitting rapid-fire flows on stage performing and creating a “live music video” for his single “Rap God,” Marshall took a moment to thank the fans and accept his award.
Eminem‘s new album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 drops November 5th.
