Listen to Revival by Eminem

4 years after Eminem released MMLP2, the Detroit emcee returns with Revival. It’s Eminem‘s ninth studio album and for the project he collaborates with Beyonce, Phresher, Ed Sheeran, Kehlani, Alicia Keys, Pink, X Ambassadors, Skylar Grey, and more. Hints of a new Eminem album came when 2 Chainz spoke on a collaboration he recorded for the project. Then Eminem unleashed a freestyle dissing President Donald Trump at the BET Hip Hop Awards. But the album’s big reveal came via a mock drug ad that cures “Atrox Rithimus.” The lead single from Revival is the Beyonce featured emotional cut, “Walk On Water.” Eminem performed the track at the 2017 MTV EMAs. Eminem followed up that with “Untouchable” featuring a Cheech and Chong sample.

Highlights on Revival include the connected tracks “Castle” and “Arose.” Eminem writes letters to his daughter Hailie Jade Mathers on “Castle.” He tells the story of when he overdosed and almost killed himself. At the end of “Arose,” Eminem rewinds time and instead flushes the drugs that almost killed him down the toilet. Other standout songs on Revival include “Believe,” “Framed,” “Bad Husband,” and the sure-to-be-hit, “River” featuring Ed Sheeran. “Chloraseptic” is a good track too, but for whatever reason, 2 Chainz was removed from the Phresher-featured song.  One listen and you’ll just wonder how much better it could have been. Something tells me that 2 Chainz killed this beat.
