Apparently someone didn’t care for Eminem‘s new album. The Detroit rap legend’s childhood home (19946 Dresden) that was featured on the cover of his latest disc MMLP2 was damaged last night in a fire.

Detroit News is reporting that the house caught fire on Thursday evening but the cause of the incident is still unknown. Major damage was avoided due to the quick response from local fire fighters.

The news comes just shortly after Eminem fan Shelly Hazlett submitted a $100 bid for the home which she plans to convert into a museum for the artist. The 747 sq ft. house was built in 1945 and is listed on the Michigan Land Bank Fast Track Authority website in the name of Deborah Mathers.

Although it’s nothing more than speculation at this point, it is presumed the fire was caused by vandalism.

More as the story develops.
