It was too late for Lil Wayne as well. In a a very similar fashion to the Rick Ross controversyAP reports that PepsiCo has decided to cut ties with the YMCMB rapper after he made a “crude reference to civil rights martyr Emmett Till” on Future‘s Karate Chop” remix.

Earlier this week, PepsiCo also pulled an online ad for Mountain Dew that was criticized for “portraying racial stereotypes and making light of violence toward women.” The ad was created by Tyler, the Creator.

Wayne’s publicist Sarah Cunningham, says that the split was due to “creative differences.” Looks like yet again the apology didn’t work. Perhaps rappers should just leave things alone and not give merit to the opposition’s argument. Either way, what happened to free speech?
