Nicki Minaj To Film Pilot Episode Of Comedy Show About Her Life In Queens This Winter
According to Deadline, Nicki Minaj has signed a deal with ABC Family to executive produce and star in a comedy series about her life, growing up in Queens, New York. The project is said to be part of a deal with Aaron Kaplan‘s Kapital Entertainment. The pilot will film this winter and if it’s a success, will continue on to be a full series.
Written by Kate Angelo (Sex Tape), the show is based around Nicki Minaj‘s life as a child moving from Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago to Queens, New York and is set in the 90’s.
“Nicki Minaj is a force to be reckoned with at everything she touches,” said ABC Family’s EVP Programming and Development Karey Burke. “Nicki is an international superstar, yet not everyone knows how inspiring and hilarious her true story is, and we can’t wait to share it with the world.”
“This is one of the more unique adventures I’ve ever embarked on,” said Minaj. “I couldn’t be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special.”
